WESTFIELD—The Westfield State University College of Graduate and Continuing Education will offer two summer residential programs, known as Teen U, for high school students ages 14–17 in July. The Health Education Life Professional (HELP) program will run July 12–18 and will introduce students to a variety of subjects within the field of healthcare. The Westfield CSI program will run July 19–25, exploring criminal justice, forensic science, and crime scene technology.
Each program will provide students the opportunity to live on campus for a week in a residence hall while enjoying meals in the campus Dining Commons and participate in a variety of evening activities. Throughout the week, students will attend classes related to their field of interest and get a first-hand experience of residential college life.
“The Teen U Summer Residential program provides an immersive college experience for high school-aged students and can help inform them of a potential choice of major and future career path,” said Brandon Fredette, Westfield State’s community education coordinator in the College of Graduate and Continuing Education. “Participation in summer study also shows initiative to college admissions counselors and makes a worthwhile addition to a college application.”
The cost of each program is $1,000, and it includes instruction, lodging, and meals. For more information or to register online for this program, visit www.westfield.ma.edu/teenu.
