At Westfield State, the objective of the accounting graduate program is to prepare students for management positions in accounting. The MSA program builds on the knowledge and tools from a students’ undergraduate education and experience from the working professional, allowing them to achieve a greater degree of sophistication in accounting and auditing. Furthermore, our MSA program can allow students to meet the 150-hour educational requirement for the Certified Public Accountancy (CPA) license in Massachusetts.

The University’s MSA program is hybrid, with coursework split between in-person and online. Students may enroll on either a full-time or part-time basis. With two curriculums, the MSA program welcomes students with or without an accounting background who are looking to earn an advanced degree in accounting. The Foundation Curriculum offers students who have a business background, but lack coursework in accounting, to earn their MSA. The Advanced Curriculum offers students who have an academic background in accounting to complete their MSA in as few as nine months.

This program is offered in Westfield, Springfield, and Northampton through an accessible hybrid format with the majority of courses taking place online and occasional evening courses on campus. An orientation is offered at the start of the program to acclimate students to the online learning and campus environments. The consistent and flexible schedule allows students to plan their program of study around work and family obligations. Eligible students may transfer up to 90 credits toward their degree and are required to complete 30 credits. Students may opt to attend part-time or full-time. Full-time students can expect to finish the program in as soon as one year.
