WESTFIELD—Westfield State University will host an Illustration Exhibition featuring the artwork of Amanda Putnam, Dillion McGuire, and Dan Delisle in the Arno Maris Gallery, Ely Campus Center, March 25–April 18. Special events include a gallery talk on March 25 at 11:30 a.m.
Putnam is an aspiring young adult and children’s book illustrator. Her work uses color in a way that reflects how light shows us what to see, including heavy saturation, value (lights and darks), texture, and compositional uniqueness. Putnam is a 2013 Westfield State alumna and holds an MFA in children’s book illustration from the Academy of Art in San Francisco. She is working on fantasy-related character development and illustrations.
McGuire is a freelance illustrator and artist who works primarily in ink. McGuire attended The Hartford Art School’s BFA in illustration program in 2012 and began working as a commercial illustrator in the comics industry. He holds an MFA in illustration from Hartford Art School. His work has been shown at galleries and shows in The Springfield Quadrangle Museum, The Bing Arts Center, Hartford Art School, Springfield Comic-Con, and New York Comic-Con. He is a frequent guest speaker at Westfield State University.
Delisle is a 2016 alumnus of Westfield State and is pursuing an MFA in illustration at the University of Hartford. A high school art teacher, he is a recognized artist in both illustration and painting, working landscapes, portraits, still life, fine art and illustration in oil, pencil, watercolor, and acrylic.
The exhibit and artist’s talk is free and open to the public. Gallery hours: Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m.–2 p.m., and Saturday, 11 a.m.–3 p.m. For more information about this event and future campus exhibits, visit www.westfield.ma.edu/marisgallery.
