Westfield – The sixth annual Pathways to Excellence fundraising event for Westfield State University and the Westfield State Foundation will take place Thursday, May 9 at 5:30 p.m. in University Hall on the Westfield State campus.

Pathways to Excellence has been the University’s cornerstone annual fundraising event and is an opportunity to showcase the breadth of the work and research of faculty and students alike. This year’s event theme is “Celebrating the ‘Westfield’ in Westfield State,” complementing the City of Westfield’s 350th anniversary.

“This year’s theme speaks to the countless ways in which the University and the City of Westfield collaborate and partner. Whether it is student internships, civic engagement efforts, or other practical applications of what our students learn in the classroom, our resident city has been a willing and effective partner in furthering student success at Westfield State,” said Dr. Erica Broman, vice president for Institutional Advancement at Westfield State University and executive director of the Westfield State Foundation.

The event will feature the work of students from a multitude of departments and student organizations, as well as the intersecting pathways of Westfield State and the City of Westfield as a community. Presentations include research displays and presentations, musical interludes, short theatrical performances, and “dinner-by-the-bite.”

The funds raised during the event will help support student internships, initiatives, and the newly established Westfield Pride Scholarship, awarded to the student who holds the highest-grade point average from each of Westfield’s three secondary schools and plans to enroll at the University this fall.

Tickets are $75 per person, $700 for a block of 10 tickets. The event’s dress code is business casual. Any organizations interested in corporate sponsorship of the event may contact Brent Bean at or 413-572-5636.
