Westfield—Westfield State University will hold its 13th annual Owl Club Golf Tournament on Monday, August 5 at Ranch Golf Club in Southwick. Lead-sponsored by Westfield Bank, proceeds benefit the University’s varsity athletics teams.
“We are fortunate and grateful to receive so much support from alumni and friends of WSU Athletics each year at the tournament,” said Director of Athletics Richard Lenfest Jr. The funding from the tournament allows our teams and student-athletes to compete at the highest level on the playing field. The Owls athletic program has won four out of last five Smith Cups, which is emblematic of the top program in the conference. WSU student-athletes also contribute more than 1,200 hours of community service annually.”
Tournament registration will begin at 10:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at noon in a scramble format. Individual players are $175, which includes lunch, 18 holes of golf with a cart, on-course contests, a tee prize, dinner, and an awards ceremony. Foursomes are available for $700. This year’s event honors Todd Ditmar, who has compiled a record of 140-86-22 in 14 seasons as head coach of the Westfield State women’s soccer team. Ditmar has led the Owls to the NCAA Tournament in seven of the last 11 seasons. He and his team are consistent supporters and volunteers of the Golf Tournament.
