WESTFIELD STATE STUDENTS MOVE IN, BEGIN SEMESTER BY VOLUNTEERING IN THE CITY OF WESTFIELD

WHAT:

Following move-in weekend at Westfield State University, students will begin the Fall 2017 semester by volunteering for organizations and businesses in the City of Westfield through an annual initiative called Helping Out Our Town (HOOT) Day on Tuesday. Student volunteers will lend their time and energy to 15 different businesses and organizations in Westfield. The event is organized by Circle K, a Kiwanis-affiliated, service-focused organization of university students.         

WHO:

Westfield State student volunteers and others will gather for the event kick-off on the City of Westfield Green, where remarks will be provided by: 

  • City of Westfield Mayor Brian Sullivan;
  • Westfield State University President Dr. Ramon S. Torrecilha;
  • State Rep. John C. Velis (D-Westfield); and
  • State Sen. Donald F. Humason Jr. (R-Westfield).

WHEN:

Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017

8 a.m.: Kick-off event

8 a.m.-noon: community service                                                                                 

WHERE: City of Westfield Green; local organizations and businesses
