WEBSITE LAUNCHED FOR FRIENDS OF THE COLUMBIA GREENWAY RAIL TRAIL, INC.
Friends of the Columbia Greenway Rail Trail, Inc. is blazing new trails as a force for change, helping the City, local businesses and other organizations transform the City of Westfield. The group is pleased to announce its newest educational effort, the launch of its website: www.columbiagreenway.org. Friends of the Columbia Greenway Rail Trail (FOCGRT) is a nonprofit (501C3) educational and charitable organization helping to forge new pathways to create a bicycle and pedestrian friendly Westfield. FOCGRT is specifically working to: (1) achieve 100% design and construction of the Columbia Greenway Rail Trail, (2) establish (upon construction) maintenance of the trail; and, (3) educate on the importance of comprehensive infrastructure to respond to the need for safe, viable, and active alternative transportation routes in Westfield.
The attractive, easy-to-use website gives the community information about the Columbia Greenway Rail Trail project, including a project overview, informational maps, construction updates and photos, as well as historic information pertaining to the site of the former New York/ New Haven/Hartford Rail Road (and one-time Northampton to New Haven canal).
Also featured is general information about the Friends group, including meeting announcements, minutes from previous meetings, event announcements, current and archived press releases, a profile of board members, as well as links to photos and other historic documents.
Visitors to the site also are able to link to the organization’s Facebook fan page, download a general information brochure, as well as make a secure online donation via Paypal. There is also a Guestbook where visitors to the site can offer suggestions for improvements and enhancements.
