United Bank Foundation Massachusetts Approves $30,000 Grant for Westfield Athenaeum
The United Bank Foundation Massachusetts today announced that they have approved a $30,000 grant for the Westfield Athenaeum in support of the Universal Access Building Project, a campaign underway to enhance access to educational, cultural, recreational and information resources for residents of Westfield and surrounding communities.
According to the Westfield Athenaeum, the Foundation’s $30,000 grant will be dedicated specifically to the renovation of the Boys & Girls Library. The library’s new design will create a family learning center, reading nook, upgraded computer workstations, information areas and activity alcoves. This enhanced space and configuration will offer flexibility in the use of the library while ensuring visitors have a safe and secure experience to enjoy.
“Public libraries are the pillars of cities and towns across the country and we are incredibly fortunate to have this one right here in Westfield. Any donation in the historic Westfield Athenaeum is a sound investment in the community as it ensures residents of all ages and backgrounds can continue to benefit from this educational, leisurely or professional resource,” said Dena M. Hall, President of the United Bank Foundation, Chief Marketing Officer and Western Mass Regional President. “And by participating in the Universal Access Building Project, we are partnering with the Athenaeum in providing children with a comfortable environment that encourages reading, literacy and social interactions while making learning a lot of fun too.”
