Jasper Rand Art Gallery in the Westfield Athenaeum we welcome artist Gary Brady
This month in the Jasper Rand Art Gallery in the Westfield Athenaeum we welcome artist Gary Brady. Gary Brady, a Westfield native and former teacher at Westfield North Middle School is exhibiting his artwork at the Jasper rand Gallery in the Westfield Athenaeum during the month of July. According to Gary,
This show is about women. When I got custody of my sons ages (2 & 4), I lost my male friends, but I found so many female friends – we were in the same boat- single mothers. I learned so much from them. When you view the show, please remember the titles mean so very much and point in the direction I want to go. For example, the painting “Don’t you wish they never grew up?” is only about the girl, but at the mother feels about her daughter and her new found sexuality. “No. . . . Maybe. . Yes” is not about a pregnancy, but a girl who has accepted the fact that she is a lesbian. “A lesser God” is a portrait of Pablo Picasso. As you see, the titles help.
“Marc,” “Valkerie,” and “Middle School” have been sold. “Interior” and “One Way” are not for sale, but the rest of the paintings are available for purchase.
The Jasper Rand Art Gallery is open Monday-Thursday 8:30-8:00 and Friday 8:30-5:00.
