HOBO HARVEST DINNER AT CHESTER STATION
The tenth annual Hobo Harvest Dinner will be held at Chester Railway Station (www.chesterrailwaystation.net) 10 Prospect St., Chester, MA, on Sat. Oct. 26th. New this year, starting around noon there will be a hobo camp re-enactment on the station grounds. Historic actors from Storrowton Village will present the ‘Hobo Jungle’ for visitors; answering questions of life ‘on the road’ and performing traditional music for dinner guests and museum visitors.
Home-cooked menu includes: “Trackside” Beef Stew, Corn Pudding (from the New Haven RR recipe book) Rolls and Butter for dessert, Apple, or Pumpkin Pie (ala mode, or w/ whipped cream) or Apple Crisp. Beverages are coffee, tea, apple cider.
There will be one sitting, from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. RESERVATIONS ARE A MUST. In lieu of buffet style, volunteers will be serving meals at your seat. Call 413-354-7878. Please leave a message with your name, phone number and number in your party. Call early, this will fill up fast.
The cost is $12 adults, $6 children under 12, children under 3, FREE. All proceeds go to support the Chester Railway Station, a non-profit educational organization and museum, named last year in a travel guide from U Mass Press, ‘Massachusetts Treasures’, as a ‘Marvelous Must-See Museum’.
