Bulkley Richardson’s Trusts and Estates Department Welcomes a New Attorney
Bulkley Richardson is pleased to announce that Kathryn G. Wakefield has joined the firm as Counsel in the Trusts and Estates Department.

Kathryn has experience advising clients in the areas of estate planning and administration, business succession planning, philanthropic gifting, and tax planning. Her practice encompasses a wide range of estate planning for various clients, including the LGBT community, non-US citizens, small and closely held businesses, and families with special needs.
She possesses a deep understanding of the financial and insurance industries. Kathryn’s prior background focused on estate, business, and charitable planning with life insurance and trusts plus analysis of financial products for use with associated planning strategies. She was in charge of administration of irrevocable life insurance trusts (ILITs) for a trust company, where she advised on how to establish an ILIT and performed account reviews for compliance with applicable government regulations.
Prior to joining Bulkley Richardson, Kathryn was a director in the estate and business planning department for a major Massachusetts life insurance company. She also served as a financial advisor for an American financial services corporation.
She is a frequent speaker and lecturer on estate and business planning topics at local seminars and conferences as well as several national conferences.
Kathryn earned her J.D. from Western New England University School of Law, and received her B.A. from University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She also earned certification as a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) at The American College.
She is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and Connecticut and is based both in Bulkley Richardson’s Springfield and Amherst offices.
