WESTFIELD STATE TO HOLD OPEN HOUSES FOR GRADUATE PROGRAMS
The Division of Graduate and Continuing Education (DGCE) at Westfield State University will host open houses in October for its graduate programs. There will be a Master of Social Work (MSW) Open House on Thursday, October 20 at 6 p.m. in Scanlon Banquet Hall and a joint open house for the Master of Education and Master of Arts in English programs on Monday October 24, at 6 p.m. in the Loughman Living Room in Scanlon Hall. Both events are free and open to the public.
Westfield State University’s Master of Social Work program is the only public program in Western Massachusetts and is within commuting distance of the Berkshires, Central Massachusetts, Northern Connecticut, Southern New Hampshire and Vermont, and Eastern New York. The MSW program is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and prepares students to become Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) and to work in a variety of positions in the human services field. The mission of the MSW program is to prepare advanced-level social work practitioners who have specialized knowledge and skills for clinical practice with a focus on working with children and families that is based on a firm generalist foundation.
Westfield State University offers graduate programs in Education leading to initial or professional teaching licensure in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Moderate Disabilities, Biology, Mathematics, History, and Reading Specialist. Westfield State also offers graduate programs in English leading to initial or professional teaching licensure, as well as a non-licensure track.
To accommodate as many students as possible, Westfield State University’s graduate programs offer flexible schedules including late afternoon and evening classes, and two summer sessions.
In addition to learning more about the graduate programs and the application process, prospective students will also have the opportunity to speak with the program coordinators and faculty.
