Noble Hospital Now Offering Glaucoma and Cataract Laser Eye Surgery
Noble Hospital is proud to announce a new procedure featuring new equipment in the treatment of glaucoma and cataracts. Surgeries will be performed by Westfield Ophthalmologist Dr. John Thayer. Noble is the first hospital in the area to use this equipment and to offer this procedure.
The Endoscopic CycloPhotocoagulation (ECP) device, produced by Endo Optics, Inc., requires fewer incisions and helps the doctor visualize needed areas, even in cloudy corneas. All forms of glaucoma can be treated with this technology. ECP transcends prior technical limitations and offers a bright, new solution for the treatment of glaucoma. Because using the ECP shows a lighted, panoramic view, the laser can be properly directed to the targeted area quickly and efficiently. ECP lowers the pressure in the eye during surgery, reduces the amount of medication needed, and retards the progression of the glaucomatous condition. This powerful new technology has been embraced by ophthalmologists across specialties and can be used in the treatment of new cataract cases, patients who have already had cataract surgery, glaucoma, and other retina surgeries.
Dr. Thayer will start performing this procedure at Noble Hospital in September. For more information, or to schedule an appointment, please call Dr. Thayer’s office at 413-572-3000.
