Lutheran Social Services of New England became Ascentria Care Alliance on September 1, 2014. Our new name represents the beginning of a new era for our organization!
What does “Ascentria” mean? We define it as “rising together.” In honor of our Christian heritage, it is a blend of “ascension” and “trinity.” Our faith-based legacy remains the heart and soul of our mission, vision and values.
With our new name and client-centered strategy, we are opening doors to new partnerships that will help us have a greater impact on the lives of our clients and the communities we serve. We’re engaging with the entire faith community, with businesses and nonprofits, to achieve in collaboration much more than we could achieve alone.
We are taking a more holistic, comprehensive approach to helping and empowering those we serve.
Our goals are big: To break the cycle of poverty, and build thriving communities where everyone has the chance to achieve their full potential, regardless of background or disadvantage.
We are committed to providing the highest quality services throughout the resettlement period, foster the self-sufficiency of refugee and immigrant families, inform and educate the community about the refugee and immigrant experience, and partner with volunteers and the community to support our new neighbors. In addition to basic resettlement services, we provide a variety of services to assist refugees and immigrants with their transition to their new homeland and culture.
We offer refugee resettlement &employment services; legal services for immigrants; foster care for refugee children through the Unaccompanied Refugee Minors Program (URMP), SNAP-ED program to educate youth as well as adults on healthy living and the micro-enterprise development program to train and assist refugees to start or strengthen their own business and attain economic self-sufficiency through self-employment.
